The Little Goat and the River: Two Versions
Version 1 A little goat wanted to cross a river. The water was fast, and she could not swim. A big turtle said, "Hop on my back." The turtle swam across with the goat on his shell. "Thank you!" said the goat. "One day I will help you." Later, the turtle got stuck on his back in the mud. He could not flip over. The goat pushed him over with her horns. The turtle smiled. "Small friends can be big helpers," he said. Version 2 A little goat wanted to cross a river. A beaver cut down a tree, and it fell across the water like a bridge. The goat trotted across. Keep the Library Open on Saturdays
Hello. My name is Imani. I think our library should be open on Saturdays. First, many families work during the week. On Saturday they have time to visit. Second, the library has a story time, and more kids could come on a weekend. Also, the library has computers. People who do not have a computer at home could use them on Saturday. Please keep the library open on Saturdays. Thank you for listening.
- What does Imani think?
- Write two reasons Imani gives.
- Write one question you could ask Imani to learn more.
- Imani is giving her talk. Name two things a good speaker does.
