Using Second Grade with your state's standards

Second Grade is built on the national frameworks that most state standards are based on or closely resemble: the Common Core State Standards for math and English language arts, the national K-12 science framework (the Next Generation Science Standards*), and the C3 Framework for social studies. Every lesson lists the standard it teaches.

Most states use these frameworks as is or with small changes. Some states, such as Texas, Florida and Virginia, write their own standards. The skills are much the same at Grade 2, but the order, the codes and a few topics differ.

Pick your state to see which standards it uses, how closely they match, and any Grade 2 topics your state adds, with a short note on where Second Grade covers each one or what to add at home. States revise their standards, so check your state's official page for the current version.
