The state's own standards
Adopted on June 21, 2023. They use an 'inquiry arc' of their own but do not name the C3 Framework. Grade 2 is 'This Wide World': world geography, how people use land and water, and early civilizations.
Official standards (opens in a new tab)Social studies: Grade 2 studies early civilizations, such as Egypt, Kush, Mesopotamia and the Olmec, including farming, irrigation and early governments.
Add at homeAdd one 20-minute session for each civilization (Egypt, Kush, Mesopotamia and the Olmec): find the place on the world map from Week 8, read a library picture book, and have your child draw how people there farmed with river water. Finish with a short chart that compares the four.
